Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to go to Honduras to distribute shoes. It was so much more than that.
At first, I was hesitant about applying to be a chaperone. I questioned the safety of the country, food and water and most of all was I able to lead children into experiencing a deep joy about God and being a part of His work in the world. After deep thought and prayer, I was chosen to go onto this journey.
As everyone says after a mission trip, “It is a life changing experience.” I wondered, “Is it?” Well, it was. Thanks to the parish and hard work of many parents our trip was fully covered.
The people we met along the way in our distributions were life changing for me. From our van drivers, teachers and workers you could clearly see God working through them. The kids were full of joy and excitement by our presence. They were materially poor but spiritually rich. Even though we couldn’t always understand what they were saying to us, they looked at us with awe. They had no running water, no electricity, their houses were cement block with no light but the happiness and vigor for life was evident—God works in mysterious ways.
Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to be sent to do God’s will.
Sincerely,
Janet Day
